Re-Use & Sharing of Resources Through Person to Person RentingRentalic (Rental In Community) is an innovative new concept that helps communities become environmentally and economically sustainable by encouraging re-use and sharing through person to person renting. Imagine the possibilities! All the things we own including tools, electronics, medical equipment, vehicles, toys, parking spaces, and even our skills could be rented to each other! Renting removes the emotional "Feel Bad" factor of borrowing and makes sharing and re-use more practical in our society. Our mission is "To help people save money, make money, and save the environment by encouraging reuse and sharing through person-to-person renting." http://www.rentalic.com/about by: Punsri Abeywickrema | Aug 26, 2010

Beneficial Bacterial Infections to Boost ImmunityImagine a future where your doctor infects you with bacteria - to make you healthier. Engineered bacteria will be programmed with genes encoding immunomodulating enzymes and regulating proteins to boost your immunity and protect you from illness. Infections can be tailored to your specific immune system and tested on your body's cells before administering it to you. It's like taking offense on your immune system instead of playing defense. by: Alex Carmichael, IFTF | Jun 17, 2010

Fighting senior loneliness with computersMales over the age of 75 have the heighest suicide rate of any group in the United States and it seems likely that loneliness is a factor in this. One of the major tools of connectivity, email and the internet, is still underused in this age group. Why not create an operating system specifically for these users. One that's simple, easy to learn and helps seniors to remain connected even if they live alone. by: Adam | Jun 25, 2010

Paleo Approved LabelThe Paleo Diet is the diet that humans would have evolved with over millions of years, rather than the current Western diet associated with obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Recent studies have produced staggering results displaying the unrivaled efficacy of implementing The Paleo Diet in patients with Diabetes, Obesity, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart Disease, Celiac's Disease, and more. Paleo Approved certifies and labels foods adhering to The Paleo Diet, making them easily identifiable for people who want to improve their health, and to be a visible icon of The Paleo Movement, to aid in improving the lives of millions worldwide. by: Karen Pendergrass | Jul 3, 2010

CatchMeMobile location-based social networking fitness game. Earn points and rewards by visiting locations and trying activities, for example running past specific locations and visiting new locations to try sports like rafting. Share your experiences with your network and meet new people at the sports locations you visit. Earn points for trying new activities and maintaining consistent exercise patterns, for example swimming every week. Awards are given within your network, for example Daredevil of the Month. Fitness becomes a fun and social game. The game could be expanded to form teams which compete against other teams across the globe. by: Louise Auger and Rachel Jones | Aug 19, 2010

EMET Method for DiabetesWhile we know much about diabetes, there are still unknowns. We believe it's important to take care of the nervous system on two levels, one diet and the other to change the electrical activity. I work with the EMET method, developed by the Center Raphael, which affects the impact of electric fields on the nervous system. I also provide foods that the body does not require insulin for removal. Free radicals in pancreatic cells disrupt the activity of pancreatic cells, creating large masses that arise due to electrical disconnect. It's a new way of observing diabetes. by: simona rahav | Jul 26, 2010

Health BuddiesWhy should only the affluent have personal trainers? I propose a website that matches people with similar goals (fitness, rehabilitation, diet, etc). Each person can then be accountable to their health buddy (and vice-versa), who will check on progress, provide moral support, set challenges, and even award virtual badges for accomplishments. Often we don't derive the same instant gratification for treating our bodies right that we get from so many other things in life, but our health buddies can provide the immediate feedback we all crave, keeping us motivated to get healthy and stay healthy. by: Pietro Michelucci | Aug 20, 2010

Level Up!If you work on the 20th floor of a building then taking the stairs, not the elevator, isn’t a practical proposition. But what if you were to walk the last 3 floors, or 2, or even 1, then that would be better than nothing. Combine this with a pass card that rewards those that do take the stairs and you get Level Up! It’s like a loyalty card for the day-to-day exercise you’re probably missing out on. by: Jon Brown | Aug 10, 2010

The Cuboid Footwear SoleConventional shoe construction neglects several important foot movements, especially transverse arch expansion and toe spread. When in step, the transverse (or metatarsal) arch expands to aid balance while simultaneously spreading the toes for added gripping surface. (This concept can be best displayed by looking at the identical movement in the metatarsals of the hand.) These subtle movements are hindered by conventional footwear, and can lead to chronic pain and weakness. The Cuboid concept is a sole design which bends at the transverse arch while simultaneously flexing the toe bed to be wider, mimicking the foot's natural movements. by: Jerod Hugghins | Aug 6, 2010

Pandemic BusterConsider a mobile app that knows your location at any given time using the built-in GPS. When you encounter someone with flu-like symptoms, you just tap the appropriate symptom button. This submits a 72-hour geomarker for that observation to a central database. With widespread usage, such an app could warn you away from contagious people or potentially contaminated areas, help diagnose a new illness based on your symptoms and tracked exposures, generate an unprecedented volume of epidemiological data, greatly improve influenza tracking, and predict and avert pandemics. Widespread adoption is incentivized by the preventive benefits to participants. by: Pietro Michelucci | Aug 22, 2010
