![]() The Recovery ProjectThe Recovery Project would organize people's personal narratives of recovery so that they can be best learned from by others. By letting patients see what others have done and by creating high-level meta-narratives, patients can see the decision trees that others have used, saving time in creating their own from scratch. Sharing and reading similar narratives provides an affective component to possibilities for personal health -- critical when conditions require changes of habit. And experts and practitioners will be able to contribute their stories of helping patients recover, integrating various medical professions' perspectives, instead of creating a divide. by: Michael Nagle | Aug 2, 2010

Green ClinicThe goal is to rethink of tools and health services under a renewed system of requirements and proximity to environmental health issues. The Green Clinic is a service that answers to a wider definition of health modeled on specific needs of a neighborhood. A service that uses technology, but it can also be seen as a concrete point of contact where motivated individuals and professionals from different sectors (not only the medical one) can work together to make places and lifestyles healthy. Green Clinic rethinks of medical practice through the interdisciplinary activity, where, information, lifestyle and cities are the workplaces. by: Lorenza | Aug 24, 2010

Neighborhood Level Grey Water RecyclingStrategic placement of simple grey water collectors - along existing sanitary sewer junctions - to manage waste water and return a safe, non-potable water source for irrigation. This could be a pond with sand filters or a filter tank. Where usage and contribution is unequal - a digital meter system could provide credits. Solid waste would be returned as sludge to waste treatment or used for biogas generators for street lights. This would shorten the water cycle, limit demand on community water treatment facilities, and reduce demand for drinking quality water. Additional collectors could be placed to include storm water runoff. by: Lissa Probus | Jul 31, 2010

Thermo/visual gamma wave feedback monitorStress is implicated across the board as a driver of poor health. Meditation has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress. Gamma waves (around 40 Hz) have been shown to be produced by seasoned meditators. Thus, a gamma wave feedback monitor may help a beginning meditator to know when they are producing higher amplitude gamma waves. Sensors are attached to the forehead. The monitor is worn on the arm. Feedback is indicated by gentle heating when a user-set threshold has been reached. There is also a visual indicator for use by a friend, guide, or coach. by: Jody Radzik | Jun 24, 2010

StepBackMonetize footsteps. Take the average cost to insure the public at weight X. Determine cost savings of reducing total per capita weight by X percent. Take 90 % of that and put into a trust. Then break down cost into individual steps and assign monetary value eg. $.00075 per step. Give individuals a smart pedometer that "phones" home. Mail them a check. Walk 25k steps get 7 buck Walk 50k steps get 14 bucks and so forth and so on. Fund through insurance companies, they pay $.90 to save a buck. by: ryan libson | Aug 4, 2010

TV-TreadmillA television that is powered by a treadmill. It will only power up with the use of a treadmill being utilized. With significant use, the power can be stored in a battery to reward hard work with a break. All family members can chip in and add time. The key would have to be that the reserve, built up power resets on a regular basis, say every 48 hours. That way you can't bank tons of time without continuous effort. Maybe other equipment like a row machine, stair climber, weight machine could tie in for variety and full body coverage. by: Gerald Griffith | Aug 17, 2010

Teleportation of Simple Life Forms for Medical PurposesThe medical condition of any biological cell, including DNA, can be described as a given state of software function that can be electronically exported. Optimal software operators can then be developed in vitro as medical treatments and teleported over the internet into the human body. These medical software operators, once applied on electronic circuits, use ambient matter to assemble inside the human body into simple living or biological medical forms. We are working on teleporting a virus of E. coli (5,386 base pairs) across the Atlantic as proof of concept of teleportation of life and something that will help to colonize other planets. by: Viktor Kozeny | Aug 6, 2010
